Daniel Lewis Tea Party Candidate
For Tennessee State House District 53
The Daily Tea Party has, along with Liberty-Candidates.org, reviewed Mr Daniel Lewis positions, and has no reservations endorsing his candidacy for State House in District 53 . We are certain that Mr Lewis espouses the philosophy of Liberty, holds constitutional views, and that he is the most liberty minded candidate in the race.
Mr Lewis is running against Janis Sontany, the Democratic incumbent, and against Tonya Miller a Republican. Ms. Miller’s campaign page offers more of the same Republican talking points and failed to impress us in this age of the pro-freedom revolution. We think the time for a revolutionary change has come and of the candidates in this race it is Mr Lewis who best embodies the philosophy of Liberty the Tea Party so eagerly demands.
We think that the Tea Party is about principles;, Daniel Lewis believes that his main job when elected is to “reduce the size, scope and power of government to regulate.”
The Daily Tea Party believes that when elected Mr Lewis will further the cause of Liberty for Tennessee. District 53rd will benefit from his steadfast support of their freedoms and rights. So it is with pleasure that we endorse him.
Daniel Lewis Message to the Tea Party!
Dear Tea Party Patriots:
I am Daniel Lewis the Libertarian candidate for Tennessee House 53.
- I support reducing the size, scope, and power of government on every issue.
- I oppose increasing the size, scope, or power of government on any issue.
On the Issues
Minimizing the role of government maximizes individual liberty and personal responsibility. From individual liberty and personal responsibility comes abundance. From tolerance comes peace. The Tennessee Legislature ought to support individual liberty, tolerance, and peace. Freedom makes all the difference in world. Let me show you how:

Philosophy of Government:
The Tennessee Legislature ought to support reducing the size, scope, and power of government at every level and on every issue. The Tennessee legislature should oppose increasing the size, scope, or power of government at any level or for any purpose. Government is not the master of individuals rather individuals ought to be masters of government.

Abortion:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government over issues related to childbirth could make the debate over abortion obsolete and provide women real choices regarding pregnancy and childbirth.

Crime:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to define crimes and freely practice criminal activity will allow resources to be spent on preventing true crime and make our neighborhoods and communities safer.

Drugs: War on Some Drugs:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to wage a “war on some drugs” will allow resources to be spent on preventing true crime, make our neighborhoods and communities safer, and allow addicts to get the help they need to end their bondage to addiction.

Education:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to educate our children will allow parents to control what their children learn, reduce costs, improve quality, and give parents real choices when it comes to their child’s education.

Environment:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to control the environment and our impact on the environment will reduce pollution and increase the amount of protected land and resources. Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to control the use of energy will make energy use more efficient and enable America to achieve energy independence.

Employment and Affirmative Action:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to oversee employment, affirmative action, and wages will improve conditions for workers and decrease unemployment. Without government interference the economy will grow strong by responding to market needs and making necessary corrections.
19 Facts About The Deindustrialization Of America That Will Blow Your Mind

Health Care:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to oversee health care will reduce costs, improve service, and encourage medical innovation. Government regulations implemented to keep us healthy actually kill thousands every year.

Immigration and Border Safety:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to oversee immigration and border safety will make our borders safer and America richer. Immigrants helped make America great. Immigrant and migrant workers play an important role in keeping our economy stable.

Marriage and Family:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government over marriage and the family puts these issues in their rightful place. Individuals should decide about issues like marriage and family. If an individual so chooses, they should be free to include their house of worship in decisions about marriage and family. Government has no legitimate role regarding issues of marriage and the family.

Poverty:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government over taking care of the poor will provide them with better and more humane help. Private charity meets the needs of the poor more efficiently and more effectively than comparable government programs. Government aid to the poor is designed to trap the poor in a welfare trap. Reducing the size, scope, and power of government over taking care of the poor will treat the poor with the dignity they deserve and ultimately help reduce poverty.

Second Amendment:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to regulate the keeping and bearing of arms will make Tennessee safer. The true purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect individuals from governments that are out of control. The right to keep and bear arms is the surest defense of individual liberty against tyranny.

State Sovereignty:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of the Federal Government to regulate and oversee the affairs of Tennessee is the most important role of the Tennessee Legislature. The Tennessee Legislature must insure that Congress never exercises powers reserved to the states. Likewise the Tennessee Legislature should never challenge the sovereignty of each county, municipality, or individual under its jurisdiction. See myPledge to Support the Tenth Amendment

Spending Cuts:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government programs and initiatives will allow for huge spending cuts while greatly increasing individual liberty, productivity, and prosperity. Government is the problem, not the solution. Resources wasted on government programs could be put to better use in the market sector. Government spending should be cut by at least 50%.

Taxes:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government would allow taxes to be replaced with user fees charged only to those who use government services. Each individual has a right to fully enjoy any and all property justly acquired without fear that government sanctioned thieves and thugs will take it simply because a majority thinks robbing the individual is a good idea.

Wars:
Reducing the size, scope, and power of government to wage endless wars against unknown enemies will greatly increase national security. All the troops from Tennessee must be brought home safely and as quickly as possible. Veterans should not face the indignity of government run health care and services when they return from war. Instead they should be offered the best services the market sector can provide. Free trade with all nations and entangling alliance with none will produce peace and make America and Tennessee safer and more prosperous.
